Classes

Classes meet during the worship service,
from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.

The objectives of the curriculum:
...to help the child develop her or his own sense of self as a valuing, deciding, interacting, enjoying, whole person.
...to enable the child to practice the skills necessary to be part of a world that values peace and justice, and to realize that what they do does make a difference.
...to present the Unitarian Universalist Principles in a manner that is timely, relevant, and meaningful to today's young people.

Nursery: We provide loving care in our comfortable nursery for infants to three year-olds. We have toys, books, high-chairs, changing table, and baby beds.

Pre-Kindergarten (for 3 and 4 year olds) and Kindergarten

Curriculum: Chalice Children is a program designed to help children learn about their church and congregation through concrete experiences with its people and places. Chalice Children focuses its goals around the three "A's" of affection, acceptance, and achievement.

1st and 2nd Grade Class

Curriculum: In Our Hands. This peace and social justice program helps children learn about their own thoughts and feelings about conflict and unfairness, and explores ways of resolving conflict and promoting peace and fairness. It also explores peace and justice in relationship with nature, and introduces several Unitarian Universalists who have worked for peace and fairness in the world.

3rd through 4th Grade

Curriculum: In Our Hands. This peace and social justice program engages children in learning how to work toward peace and justice. Peace being the achieving of justice, cooperation, and nonviolence, with justice being the realization of peace, freedom, and equality.

5th through 8th Grade

Curriculum: Neighboring Faiths

Students plan their own program by choosing which religious groups to learn about. Includes visits to nearby religious communities, and relating these experiences to their own growing faith.

High School:
Our high school students take an active role in determining what happens during their time together. They are given opportunities and responsibilities in making plans to attend conferences, hikes, video reviews, painting their room, and deciding on topics for discussion. This group provides a forum where questions, ideas, opinions and information can be shared in a safe and respectful manner. This is a great group in which to develop leadership skills, and make life-long friends.
