Sunday  Services

Our Sunday Services and Religious Education are at 10:30 a.m.

They are open to all.  Infant and toddler care are available.

February 7       “You CAN Go Home Again: Finding Meaning in the Heart of My Former Faith” – Matt Sronkoski

February 14     “Love, Marriage, and Humanity: Standing on the Side of Love” – Darren Sherkat

February 21     “Thich Nhat Hanh and Engaged Buddhism” – Kathy O’Laughlin

Thich Nhat Hanh is a Vietnamese Buddhist monk, internationally known for his teachings and writings on mindfulness, and for his work related to "socially engaged Buddhism", a call to social action based on Buddhist principles.  He was nominated for the Nobel Peace prize by the Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr. in 1967  for his work in opposition to the war in Vietnam.  Kathy will explore Thich Nhat Hanh's analysis of some of the major issues facing the world today, and his challenge to us to employ compassion in our response.  Gillian Harrison will present "Please Call Me By My True Name", a poem written by Thich Nhat Hanh in 1967, in response to the plight of the boat people.

February 28            “Jesus Didn’t Say That: Messianic Literalism Meets Reality” – Michael Humphries

Open Minds meets each Sunday at 8:45 AM in the Commons.Newcomers  are always welcome.
We are an inclusive inter-generational group using the  Seven UU Principles as programming guide lines. We welcome suggestions for program topics and presenters.

Important Announcement! Thank you and Congratulations to Terry Elliott, who has stepped forward to assume the leadership to coordinate the Open Minds program.

Many thanks also to Bob Camp and Bob Lembcke, who have dedicated many years of their time to keeping this program on-going and interesting, week after week.

We look forward to a new energy and perspective that Terry will bring to this important program. February topics are still in development, and will be announced in weekly bulletins for the month of February.

For those who have never attended an Open Minds program and discussion, you are missing something very special. We learn something new each Sunday, from our vast wisdom warehouse (our members and guests). Come join us! We hope to be an intergenerational group; we welcome diversity in open dialog. Future presenters and topics needed...step up and join the fun.
